Cagayan De Oro City – National Grid Corporation of the Philipines (NGCP) Tower 25 of Agus 2 –  Kibawe 138kV line in Brgy. Linamon, Ramain, Lanao del Sur, was reportedly bombed and toppled, Tuesday evening.

It was the sixth bombing of an NGCP tower this year.

The series of bombings on the power distribution company’s towers has resulted in power outages all over Mindanao, and the latest attack on Tower 25 could stoke renewed fears that power supply in the whole island will not be enough come the elections on Monday.

The same tower was bombed on December 24, 2015, and it took three months before it could be repaired.

The NGCP had complained that the owner of the land where the tower stands, the Sambitory family, had refused NGCP repairmen access to the tower, thus, delaying its rehabilitation for months.

NGCP said repairs on Tower 25 will commence immediately once the area is declared safe for its repairmen.

The company stressed that the bombings only serve to increase the burden of the public, which always suffers through service interruptions when towers are bombed.
